Umno is against any form of racism and does not support Perkasa said Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.
“We should get rid of Perkasa,” said the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department on Tuesday in the Parliament lobby when reporters asked for his response to MCA vice-president Datuk Donald Lim’s suggestion that the Chinese should form their version of Perkasa.
"What's the point of having another extremist body? We want to get rid of Perkasa,” he said.
He said that Umno was seeking to distance itself from Perkasa but acknowledged that no action could be taken against people who proposed such extremist bodies unless a police report was lodged against them.

Wan Ubaidah Omar, the chairman of Kelantan Women, Family and Health is making a fool of herself for suggesting that awards be given to assemblymen for marrying single mothers. She stated that there are 16,500-registered single mothers in the state and even if there are 500 assemblymen willing to marry the single mothers, there are still 16,000 single mothers remain unmarried and facing financial difficulties. Instead of suggesting a special fund for the single mothers (where the assemblymen can contribute 10% of their income), Wan Ubaidah Omar is promoting single mothers to be a sex object for the assemblymen. She is now a qualified pimp.
Her suggestion drew support from backbenchers -- all of them men -- who started thumping their palms on the table at the Kelantan State Assembly on Wednesday.
She said the assemblymen could increase their quota to help single mothers with young children and it would help greatly if the assemblymen assisted by marrying them.
Her statement prompted house speaker Nassuruddin Daud to ask Wan Ubaidah to explain the word “quota.”
“What I meant by quota is the number of wives; awards should be given to learned House members who take the lead in doing this and also for those who have already married single mothers.
“This would help to reduce the number of single mothers in the state,” she said in reply to a question by Hassan Mahmood (PAS-Tawang), who had asked what was being done to reduce the number of divorce cases and what efforts were being taken by the state government to help single mothers.
To a supplementary question, Wan Ubaidah said that based on state records, there were 16,500-registered single mothers below the age of 60 in Kelantan and this figure did not include those who had been left in the lurch by their husbands.
She said one dilemma facing some single mothers in Kelantan and the country as a whole was that many of them could not register at the Welfare Department or related agencies because their husbands had left them without filing for divorce.
She said that she agreed with the call by Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Nik Mat to whip irresponsible husbands who left their wives high and dry without any reason.
She said Kelantan spent RM2mil annually to look after the welfare of single mothers who had no source of income.
“Apart from that, we have organised entrepreneurial workshops to help single mothers earn a living.
“The government has also organised talks to educate the immediate families of single mothers to take the initiative to help and not leave them alone to fend for themselves.
“We have had similar educational talks for husbands who had divorced their wives to encourage them to pay alimony to help their ex-wives get on with their lives,” she added.

Malaysia PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is visiting Sarawak on June 10, 2008 in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak festival and he is expecting to make some announcement, likely to be some financial packages for the of Sarawak.
Before his trip to Sarawak, Sarawakian YBs meanwhile are "hoping" for goodies similar to those given to state of Sabah. Typical Sarawakian YBs.
Why hoping when they can collective demands from the PM to give special or more assistance to Sarawak after all Sarawak is producing petroleum and gas for the nation. Sarawak does not know how to bargain at all.
If you don't talk or if you don't list your needs, how would Badawi know what is best of Sarawak. Thus, another wasted opportunity for Sarawak as this is the right time to squeeze the PM's ball and let's the PM know the suffering and plights of the rakyat in Sarawak.

S’wak expects Gawai goodies
Sarawakians hope the surprises are similar to those announced by the prime minister for Sabahans last week
KUALA LUMPUR: Sarawakians are hoping for some pleasant surprises from Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi when he makes a one-day visit to the Land of the Hornbill on Tuesday.
They hope the ‘Gawai goodies’ are similar to those announced by the prime minister for Sabahans during the Kaamatan festival last week.
Santubong MP Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar who is also Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker said: “We are expecting nothing less that what Sabah gets. It is only natural that we are hoping to get about the same. We are not going to ask what he is going to give but what he is going to offer to Sarawak.”
His colleague from Bintulu and also Barisan Nasional Backbencher Club chairman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said he hoped Abdullah would address the lack of funds for infrastructure projects in rural areas.
They include the setting up of Sabah State Development Office in place of the Sabah Federal Development Department, a RM1-billon special allocation for rural development and the formation of a cabinet committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to overcome Sabah’s longstanding illegal immigrant and refugee problem.
Sarawakians also hope Abdullah would address the high cost of transportation although Sarawak is one of the major oil producing states.
Although they understand that the global oil price is beyond the government’s control, many feel a bigger subsidy should be extended to them.
Among other things, Sarawak is expected to benefit from a federal government plan to introduce standard prices for nine control items namely sugar, petrol, diesel, steel, cement, wheat flour, condensed milk, chicken and cooking oil.
During the visit, the prime minister is expected to announce the appointment of a Sarawakian senior government official as the new Federal Sarawak Financial Officer.
Ahead of Abdullah’s visit, some community leaders interviewed by local dailies voiced their dissatisfaction and even questioned, for example, why the state did not get a better deal in oil royalty.
“They (federal government) should give us more than five per cent. It’s very hard to understand why they won’t increase the royalty to allow our state government to boost other industries like agriculture,” said one Kapitan Chan.
“Has the federal government ever wondered why people in rural areas need four-wheel drive vehicles?” asked Wee Hong Seng, Sarawak Tourism Federation president.
“It’s not that these rural folk are rich. It’s a necessity given the terrible road condition. So now these people will be penalised further,” he said.
The state government is expected to raise the issue of high transportation cost in sending fuel and food to smaller towns and remote areas in Sarawak during Abdullah’s visit.
Sarawak is heavily dependant on road and riverine transport to carry food and other essentials to its people while rural schools, longhouses and villages rely heavily on fuel for their power generators as they are not connected to the state power grid.
This is common in rural areas such as Medamit in Ulu Limbang, Baram, Bario, Ba Kelalan, Marudi, Bintulu, Sibu, Kapit and Julau.
“The federal government needs to be advised properly on the matter. The interior people must be assisted,” said John Sikie, Kakus assemblyman.
“Federal officers must look at Kapit, Song and Bario and work out plans on how to help these people.”
He said although there is no such demand, Sarawakians were hoping the federal government would understand their need for rural development.
Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Billy Abit Joo shared Tiong’s sentiments and said the policy makers should not assume that the rural people in Sarawak were okay just because they were not making demands.
“Rural development is for basic human needs. The people need all the help that the federal government can give to build clinics and other basic amenities,” he said.
“In Sarawak, we don’t talk so much about position.
“Sarawakians are too polite sometimes, hoping that people would understand their needs.”
Last week, Abdullah unveiled several measures to be taken by the federal government to address some of the major problems faced by Sabah.

Samy Vellu has blown his top off by agitated questions from the group that attended the dialogue. Those are only questions from students who "flopped" their course. If Samy were to answer questions from the opposition party, he probably turned white.
Being a president of a party (MIC), leader of the community and senior politician, Samy Vellu should keep his calm. There are even more difficult issues and questions from the rakyat that need to be explained to. If certain question cannot be answer due to fixed procedures or policies, he can just politely tell the group. No need to merajuk.
If he can't handle a bunch of students, how can he tackle those serious issues from the community ?
I guessed fixing the toilet leakage at the Parliament House is easier than tackling the real problem faced by the rakyat, huh.

Samy Vellu cuts short dialogue
KUALA LUMPUR: A six-year battle by medical graduates of unrecognised universities to win a second chance to become doctors "ended" in 40 minutes yesterday.
Forty-five of them who had come to a dialogue to get the help of Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu were left in a daze after the MIC chief walked off while answering the third question.
He become agitated on being repeatedly asked whether the group would definitely pass a three-year study programme designed to help them become housemen.
Samy Vellu said he could not provide an assurance but said it had been done by others in similar circumstances.
"What are you trying to explain to me? Are you saying I am stupid? I am trying to help you and you are trying to argue with me.
"I just said those who like the new programme can take it. Those who do not like it do not have to take it.
"Now I feel that whatever I tried to do is no good. I have been dwelling on your problems for the last five to six years. Stupid, isn't it? Stupid. Very, very stupid."
Samy Vellu then told the group that he was ending the dialogue and would not help them any more.
"I am going to put a stop to this. This is my last attempt to see something done," he said at the dialogue organised by the Maju Institute of Educational Development.
The dialogue was about a special programme recently offered by the Health Ministry to those who had failed the three given attempts at the examination.
It comprises a year of pre-clinical studies followed by two years of clinical studies.
The programme will enable graduates to transfer credit hours to a local public or private university to complete their course.
On passing, they can do their housemanship at public universities.
